Safety & Loss Prevention
Bicycles are Legally Defined as Vehicles in Florida

In Florida, a bicycle is legally defined as a vehicle and has all of the privileges, rights, and responsibilities that a motor vehicle operator does. When cycling on roadways, remember to adhere to all applicable traffic laws and:
🛑Come to a full stop at all stop signs.
🚗Adhere to all posted speed limits.
👀Reduce speed when approaching crosswalks, curves, or areas with limited visibility.
➡️Ride in the same direction as vehicle traffic while remaining on the right side of the road.
✋Use hand signals at every lane change or turn.
When cycling on pathways, maintaining a safe speed of 8 miles per hour is essential for everyone’s well-being. Our pathways are shared by walkers, joggers, and cyclists of all ages. Please use your bicycle bell when approaching or passing other pedestrians on pathways to avoid collisions and ensure everyone’s safety.
Click here to read the “Rules for Bicyclists” section on page 81 in the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Driver License Handbook.
Bicycle Repair Station at Riverwalk Park

A new bicycle repair station has been installed by the BBCA Grounds Department, at Riverwalk Park next to the basketball courts. Residents can now mount their bikes on the stand and perform repairs and maintenance on-site.

Pickleball Courts Reconstruction is Now Underway

The reconstruction of the pickleball courts has started at Riverwalk Park. For your safety, please keep out of the construction zone and use caution in the area. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late February 2026, allowing sufficient time for the new concrete slab to fully cure before the courts reopen. To offer residents offsite access to pickleball courts during the closure, the BBCA has extended its partnership with Sports Challenge America through February 2026. More information is available here.
