Hurricane Season Preparation Reminder
As we approach the start of hurricane season on June 1, we’d like to remind all residents to take the necessary precautions to prepare their homes and property. Early preparation is key to protecting both your property and the safety of our community. If you plan to travel north for the summer, please ensure your home is secured before you leave. Below are important guidelines and reminders:
Before You Leave or As Soon as Possible:
- Secure all outdoor furniture, planters, and décor to prevent them from becoming projectiles in high winds.
- Trim trees and shrubs to reduce the risk of debris.
- Check and secure shutters or hurricane protection systems.
- Confirm your home watch or property management service is in place and has a storm preparedness plan.
- Remove any items from lanais, balconies, or patios.
- Fill up your generator’s fuel tanks and test the unit to ensure it is in working order.
- Review your insurance coverage and take updated photos or videos of your property for documentation.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters and for doing your part to keep Bonita Bay safe and secure during the storm season.

Bear Presence Within Bonita Bay
Within Bonita Bay, there is an abundance of wildlife, which, at times, includes bears. Even though these occurrences are rare, bear sightings may increase as we approach the summer months. If you see a bear in Bonita Bay, please make sure to keep your distance and do not approach it. Please never feed a bear or other wildlife as they can learn to associate people with food and be tenacious in their pursuit of something to eat. To read more, click here. For more tips on how to deter a bear from visiting your area, click here.
Please report bear sightings to the Call Center at 239-947-2476, and a patrol officer will be dispatched to the area. Read more about the BBCA Animal & Reptile Removal Policy here.
